The FMCA Rally Week in Pomona, CA

Feb 25 – Mar 2, Mon-Sun ... At the seminar on Monday, we started out by attending a back health seminar where we learned about some exercises to improve and limber up the back. After that Mike attended a seminar on RV charging systems while Dixie went to the Digital Photography seminar. In the afternoon, we spent time looking at the many new motorhomes on display. On Tuesday, we attended a seminar entitled “High-Speed Internet” put on by the “Geeks on Tour” couple. It was good and we learned a lot about internet connectivity. Later, Mike attended a class on the Highway Watch program which is a part of Homeland Security. Later seminars we attended were PC annoyances and “Clean with a Pro”. That evening, the entertainment was provided by ABBAMania & Stayin’ Alive. Wednesday, we started the day by having Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee while the group “Frustrated Maestos” performed their music. Mike attended the Freightliner Chassis Preventative Maintenance seminar while Dixie attended a class on Rv’ing Australia & New Zealand. Later, Mike attended a class on RV batteries & Dixie attended a couple of PC classes. The evening entertainment was provided by Peter Noone and Herman’s Hermits. He was quite the entertainer. After coffee and Krispy Kremes again, Thursday brought another day of classes. (We were beginning to think we were back in high school) However, the day got off to a rough start due to a little accident on the way to class. While riding our bicycles, Dixie had to brake hard to keep from hitting a car backing out of a parking space. The sudden stop (good brakes) threw her over the handlebars where she hit the pavement. A Dr. visit the next day showed a small fracture in her elbow. Both wrists are sore as well. She is very sore and it’s going to take several days before she is back to normal.
The evening entertainment this day was provided by the Bellamy Brothers. They are the group who recorded the song “If I said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me”. They had a sort of Reggae Country sound. Friday was another move day, this time some 100 miles back to Indian Waters RV Resort in Indio. The weather all weekend was sunny and in the 70’s but very windy. Dixie’s brother Doug and wife Fran visited us on Saturday and stayed the night in their fifth wheel. They are headed to Yuma, Az and will meet friends to be part of a motorcycle ride to the tip of the Baja Peninsula, a round trip of almost 2,000 miles. It makes my butt hurt just thinking about it. Danny & Lexi were also over to visit. Fran trained Dixie again medical billing so she can do some of Fran’s work while they are in Mexico. It’s a bit tough with sore wrists, arm and muscles but hopefully it will improve each day!
