The end the Maine venture!

Jul 3 --Whale Watch trip canceled due to high seas.
Drove to Cadillac Mountain & enjoyed the breathtaking view. You can see water 360 degrees. It’s the highest mountain at 1560 ft. on the east coast from Brazil north!
Hiked up hill/ rocks to Champlain Mountain 1058 ft. Had our picnic lunch at the summit. Beautiful view of the water & mountains & homes on the water (one that was Martha Stewarts cottage). Watched a $$$ yacht & Cruise ship pass by!
Stopped by Jackson Laboratory which is a large genetic research lab (lots of cancer research).
In Bar Harbor - walked the sand bar when tide was low to Bar Island. (the sand bar is visible for about 90minutes each side of low tide)
Jul 4 -- Plans - go to Cadillac Mt, take a hike, have picnic dinner watching the sunset & then watch fireworks from the mountain.
Actual-- Fog rolled in late afternoon making it impossible to see anything from the Mt. We hiked to Bubble Rock where we could see the rock but not the large body of water below! Drove back to Bar Harbor & had our picnic dinner at the local ball field!!! Listen to the local band concert at the Village Green and then moved to the town pier to watch the fireworks. Couldn’t see a lot for the fog…about 100yds visibility so the high fireworks was pretty much muted. Lot’s of people there anyway! Enjoyable day despite the fog.
Jul 5 -- In Bar Harbor at 730a for Whale Watch tour that was cancelled due to fog. Rescheduled for 1p - then it was canceled. Finally made it on the one at 430p. Spent the day in town walking around & relaxing. Queen Mary 2 Cruise Ship docked in harbor - worlds longest, widest, & tallest cruise ship!
Whale Watch trip was on a high speed catamaran boat (30knots). Went about 30 miles out in ocean - seas were a bit rough & Mike was sea sick most of the time. We did see humpback whales very close to the boat! What a site but Mike was definitely ready to be off the boat after 3 hrs.
Jul 6 -- Drove to another park of Acadia Natl Park.. Schoodic Peninsula - a bit more remote. Went spent over an hour at Schoodic Point watching the waves crash into the rocks/boulders. It was close to low tide so we could walk way out on the rocks. Also a few lobster boats bringing in their catch. Had our picnic lunch the rocks enjoying the site!
Had our last lobster dinner. Went to a lobster pound where we watched them cook it & them took them home to eat! We tried the ‘new shell’ lobster this time. It was very good!
Jul 7 -- Driving day! Heading to Bethlehem, NH which is near the White Mountains!
