The start of 2007!

January 1, 2007 … HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Hector & Georgie made a great breakfast & then took us to Bayside where we walked around the shopping mall and at noon took the harbor cruise aboard the Pink Lady. The Captain pointed out many sites along the way which included Fisher Island where condos on the Atlantic side start at five million. Oprah has a little place here. Several celebrities have homes on Star Island including, Shaq & Gloria Estafan and some rappers I can’t remember the names of. We also drove to Coral Gables and walked through the beautiful Biltmore Hotel that was opened in 1926 and boasted the worlds largest swimming pool. After WWII it was temporarily used as a hospital but was later closed until 1984 when it was refurbished and reopened as a luxury hotel. We headed back to Moore Haven & the motorhome around 4p.
Jan 2 ... Took a 40 mile drive north to the town of Okeechobee (it's on the north end of Lake Okeechobee). You can actually see the lake from here, unlike Moore Haven & Clewiston. Tomorrow we have an early start as we are scheduled to have the motorhome to the Freightliner place in Fort Myers at 8am for a recall item.
