Jan 28 … Sun - It started raining before 5:00 a.m. and did so for about an hour. It’s going to be windy and colder today and tomorrow (Monday) night the temp is supposed to go below freezing in this area. I think we need to head back to Key West if we want some warm weather in Fl. This afternoon we went to the movie “Pursuit of Happyness” at the local mall.
Jan 27 … Sat - Another cold morning but not as cold as yesterday. By noon it was sunny and 65 or so. We decided to go check out the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park which was only about 10 miles from the park. This is a park where you can see wildlife up close, especially the Florida Manatee. The park has an underwater observatory where you can view schools of fish and manatees up close. We attended the Manatee program where the volunteer instructor talked a great deal about them. He then went into the 72 degree water to feed them sweet potatoes by hand. It was very interesting to watch him feed these unusual and extremely docile mammals that can weigh up to 3,300 pounds.
Jan 26 … Fri - Woke up to a cold but sunny 38 degree morning. Took a walk around the park after it warmed up a bit. Dixie worked on campground reservations at some Corp of Engineer parks in Alabama and Tennessee for April and May.
Jan 25 … Thurs - For Florida, the weather is cold at about 45 degrees this morning. It rained most of the night. Went to the local library to use their high speed computers. Also drove around Crystal River a bit.
Jan 24 … Wed - The motorhome is at the National RV Service Center in Lakeland, Fl. We had taken it there so that they could repair a couple of items. They fixed these items but for some reason the DirecTV receiver would not work. After much conversion with DirecTV they are sending us a new receiver. While all this was happening Dixie had another doctor appointment for her knee. The MRI results show a badly torn Menicus (sp). They scheduled orthroscopic surgery for Feb 5th. Because of that we will extend our stay in this area until Feb. 15th. We then drove the 130 miles to the Crystal Isle RV resort in Crystal River, Fl.
