Whitewater Rafting!

Jun 29-30....We had an awsome time whitewater rafting on the Middle Fork of the Flathead river. We went with the Montana Rating Company and would highly recommend it - the guide was great! It was just use & was another couple from Dallas with their 2 sons (9 &12). We got soaked on the first of the 12 rapids. Our raft was the one that was NOT self bailing! After a couple of rapids we had to bail water out of the raft with a bucket. The weather was very nice -high 60's - however, the water temp was 42 degrees - luckily they provided wetsuits! Today we are headed to Lakeside on Flathead Lake. But first we made a stop in Kalispell where we decided to purchase a Dome Satelite system for the motorhome (no more spending hours to find the satelite at every stop). This system finds it automatically. Next stop was the Verizon store to change cell services - we have been getting little or no phone service in the this part of the country! We have the same phone number and if you are a Verizon customer we can talk to you without using minutes!!!!! We don't have a digital picture of our rafting as I didn't want to get the camera wet. I will attach a few other pictures instead.

Glarcier National Park & Surrounding Area

Jun 19-28...We have been keeping quite busy. While in Seeley Lake we went on the boat again, this time to Lake Placid. Still no luck on the fishing but my cousin Jay water skied - too cold for us! After Seeley we moved on to Bigfork for 2 nights, parking at Dixie's second cousins and enjoying the hospitality of Bill & Gloria. They have a home on Flathead Lake and they took us out for a boat ride where we viewed some of the "high $$" homes. Next stop was Kalispell, which was a big stop for us as we traded vehicles. We now tow a Silver 2004 Tracker. We went to a 4 door hardtop. Since we carry so much "stuff" in our car we felt we needed a little more space and security. While in Havasu, we found out just how easy the softtop was to break into when we locked the keys in the car and we were able to get in the car in a matter of minutes! We have been in Glacier National Park since Sunday. Today we drove the "Going to the Sun" road seeing lots of snow and clouds - the weather wasn't great but we enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Along the way traffic was stopped for "blasting" - no, not a mountain but for "snow"!!!! On our return trip we hiked 4 miles round trip to Avalanche Lake. Little did we know that the hike was uphill most of the way. It started raining 3/4 of the way up and all the way back. Needless to say we were soaked. However, the Avalanche Creek, Gorge and Lake was worth the effort and sore muscles we have. In this area there are rivers, creeks, lakes, waterfalls and mountains wherever you look - it is truly a gorgeous site. I came to Glacier Park many times as a child but forgot just how phenomenal it is. Tomorrow we are going Whitewater Rafting on the middle fork of the Flathead River. They tell us the water is 42 degrees - and we thought we were cold today after our rain soaked hike!

Montana!

Jun 10-19
We are now in Big Sky country! We had a great 5 days in the Butte area. We stay a few days at Fairmont Hot Springs RV Park and then moved the motorhome to Dixie's cousins in Butte. There we attended a great Graduation Party for their son. They have a lovely home on the golf course overlooking the Highland Mountains which were snow capped and beautiful. Dixie's sister and brother with family also came for the party. It was a great time seeing & visiting with family. From there we made a detour back to Missoula as Mike was "seeing stars".....literally!!!!! He found out he had "floaters" in his one eye. The report was good as they tend to go away with time - most of the time anyway. Since Mike's eyes were dilated, Dixie had to drive the motorhome to our next destination which was Seeley Lake. We are currently parked in Dixie's Aunt and Uncles yard. They have a beautiful home and yard in Seeley Lake. We have deer running by our motorhome and are nestled in the trees. We have been keeping busy - 4-wheeling (driving 50 miles in 5 hrs), fishing in the boat on Seeley lake one day and Salmon lake the next (no fish either day), and visiting relatives in Orvando. Of course we have no cell, internet or satellite service since we are in the trees. Mike & Warren tried for several days to find the satellite and finally found it after putting the tripod dish on the "roof" of the motorhome. We plan to stay in this area for this week and then move on to Glacier Park next Sunday.

Movin West!

May 26-Jun 9....Still no camera so no new pictures this time. We enjoyed more fun times with the kids and grandkids. While in the Seattle area we managed to find time to have a family picture taken with Micheala's family. Dixie flew to California to spend a week with her brother and niece while Mike stayed in Washington with the motorhome. On the 5th we headed west... spending a couple of days in the Spokane area and an overnight stop on the Clark Fork river outside of Missoula. We are currently in Butte, MT visiting some of Dixie's cousins. The scenery was beautiful all along the way. It has been pretty chilly, Montana of course is having below normal tempatures. I guess someone forgot to tell them it was June! We will in this area until the 13th and then move up to Seeley Lake to see more family and beautiful scenery. We are hoping for some sunshine and warm weather. We expect to get the camera back next week!
