Jan
16 – 22.. The 16th
was move day once again...back to Indian Waters for two weeks this
time. On the 18th
we were back at the First Tee for more lessons. Afterwords we
practiced what we learned instead of playing a round (what a
concept). Dixie realized her passport is expiring on Jan 26th
so she completed the form online, got a picture taken and sent it in
on the 21st
- good for another 10yrs – now we just need to go somewhere to use it!
Tuesday we met Ross and Don & Cheryl Van Pelt for dinner at Arnold Palmer's restaraunt (the have a great happy hour menu).
On
Thursday we went to the Humana Challenge Golf Tournament – the La
Quinta course. We followed Phil Mickelson and Greg Norman. While on
the 13th
green we also saw President Clinton. Dixie held the rope down while
he left the green so we got a close look. From there he went to the
“porta pottie” (a very strange thing to put in the blog but we
thought it was unusual to see an ex-President use one). We also ran
into Doug and Donna, a couple we met through Ross a few years ago.
On Friday we were back at the tourney, this time at the Nicklaus
course at PGA West. We saw several different golfers and walked a
lot. We also took part in some of the Humana health activities.
Saturday we walked the Palmer course following Phil and David Toms.
We watched Greg Norman and President Clinton tee off on one and putt
on the 9th
green before the wind came up so strong the play had to be suspended.
We left the course around 230p. It was hard to see while driving
home due to the dust blowing. Several trees were down – I think it
was the worst wind we have seen in the years we've been coming to the
Coachella Valley. Later we went out again to celebrate Dixie's 55thbirthday (start of senior discounts) at Chef George (Washington & Country Club). They have
the best Greek salad. We also had the Chicken Paparikash and Apple
Strudel. All was wonderful!
Sunday we spent recoup-orating from the
golf. Dixie did wash, a couple of haircuts and went shopping while
Mike watched football! We are preparing for more winds that are
predicted for Monday afternoon.
