Happy New Year 2013

Jan 1st – 21st ...Another 3 weeks completed! New Years day was a quite one. On the 4th Dixie went for a massage. A friend had given me a coupon for Happy Feet – the massage was different than most...very intense at times using pressure point areas. The rest of the day was spent shopping. The 5th we decided to go to a street market at the Spa Casino in downtown Palm Springs. From there we made a stop at Bill & Gloria's. Sunday was church at the rv park. Dixie did quite a few haircuts while at Desert Pools RV.
The 8th was move day to Indian Waters Rv resort. (site 233). We had our friends Glenn & Henrietta over for happy hour and snacks. We met Ross for dinner in old town La Quinta on Wed.
Thurs. the 10th we went to the FMCA RV Rally. We were looking at motorhomes when some very high winds came up. We went to one of the seminars during the worst of it. We ventured through all the vendors but actually left without purchasing anything!.
Friday we went to the happy hour gathering on the patio at the rv park. It was a bit cool but fun visiting.
On Sat. the 12th we drove to Aunt Marge's in the morning. We took her to lunch and helped her with her computer. About 230p we left for Buster & Sandy's. We had a wonderful dinner with them as well as Carece & kids and Josh.
Monday Mike helped Ross move some of his pictures. Tuesday we put together some picture matts for Ross as well as worked on a canvas picture project.
On the 16th Mike went with Ross to the practice rounds of the Humana Golf Tournament and Dixie went shopping! On the 17th we went to Chef George with Ross, Stewart Williams (PGA meteorologist), Don & Cheryl Van Pelt (El Paso), Bob & Arlene Golby (pro golfer from the 50's/60's – won a Masters and 14 tournaments). We had a lovely time visiting. On Friday the 18th we went to the golf tournament. Saturday afternoon we did some errands and then stopped at Danny's. From there we went to Don & Cheryl's condo at the Monterrey Country Club for drinks and appetizers. Ross & Stewart were also there. Sunday we went back to the golf tourney. That evening Ross & Stewart came to the motorhome for a taco dinner!
The 21st was Dixie's 56th Birthday! We went grocery shopping at WinCo, went to visit Bill at Giant RV where he is now employed (unfortunately he called in sick so wasn't there). Later in the afternoon we went to the Jackalope Ranch for an early dinner. We stopped at the store on the way home and bought a German Chocolate Decadent cake mix and Dixie went home and made herself a Birthday Cake!!!! We sat outside by the firepit to finish off the night! I received many Birthday wishes on Facebook as well as some phone calls from family! Dixie managed to do several haircuts between all our running around the past 2 weeks. The 22nd we move back to Desert Pools!

Elaine ~ Dad ~ Lexi
Our Christmas Dinner Table at Dad & Elaines
Mike, Dixie, Danny, Dad, & Lexi

Merry 2012 Christmas!

Dec 18th – 31st...Our 156 mile drive from Winterhaven to Desert Hot Springs went well. We got a great site at Desert Pools (216) – it's extra large with no one next to us on one side. We spent the first few days settling in and putting up our few Christmas decorations. Our friends, Bob & Cheryl Hathaway (Chicago) arrived on Friday. Dixie cut Cheryl's hair and we all went to the VFW for dinner.

On Sat., the 22nd we drove to Danny's place were we left our car and rode with him and Lexi to Lake Havasu City, AZ to visit Dad and Elaine for Christmas. We made a lunch stop at Parker and arrived around 2pm.

On Sun. we went out on the boat. The weather was cool but sunny. As long as we drove 'slowly' it was quite nice. We stopped in the channel for lunch ~ we had to try our the boat grill we (all the kids) gave Dad & Elaine! After a bit of frustration we got it working and enjoyed our hot dogs! That evening we had a wonderful prime rib dinner at home.

Christmas Eve morning we took everyone out for brunch at Rusty's ~ a very good restaurant I might add. We made pies and other items for Christmas dinner. We attended Christmas Eve services at 4pm at Mt Olive Lutheran church (Mom & I attended services here in 2000 when we were all in LHC for Christmas). We enjoyed a Lasagna dinner and then opened gifts!

Merry Christmas 2012 ~ We had a wonderful turkey dinner with all the fixins! Thanks Elaine & Dad. We left around 4pm to head back home as Danny had to work the next day. We arrived back to the motorhome around 7p.

Wed., the 26th we did paperwork to request some of our $$ for the purchase of Howard's car (2006 Ford 500). Mike also called the bank to try and figure out why his new debit card hasn't arrived and how he is going to get it. After a few phone calls and a few days he finally got it set up to be sent to Danny's. This is the stuff that is not easy when you are on the road!

Thurs. Dixie did a haircut & then we made a run into Cathedral City and did some Walmart shopping. In the afternoon we went to Glenn & Henrietta's (Edmonton) for happy hour and snacks. We had a great time visiting and catching up with them.

Friday Dixie did a haircut and that evening we went to the VFW again with Bob & Cheryl for their rib dinner.

Saturday was wash day and not much else! Dixie did do 2 haircuts.

Sunday Dixie went to the church service here at the park. In the afternoon we went to Bob & Cheryl's to watch football and for dinner.

Monday ~ New Years Eve day! We drove to Danny's in the morning where Dixie cleaned Danny's condo some and Danny completed a product order for us girls! We made a stop at Trader Joe's and then headed back home around 230p. Bob & Cheryl came over for drinks. We ordered a Pizza from Rocky's in DHS. We visited and managed to make it until the ball dropped in “New York City's”. (9pm here). We toasted the new year with champagne and called it quits just after 10p. HAPPY 2013!!!!

Yuma ~ The winter vegtable capital of the world
Yuma Lakes RV ~ had to take this because of the 'Great Falls Ice'

Our stay in Yuma, AZ

Dec 4th – Dec 17th....The 160 miles drive to Yuma was uneventful. We stayed at Yuma Lakes (our first time in this park) and Doug & Fran went to Araby Acres.

On Wed. Dad and Elaine drove down from Lake Havasu and stayed at John & Angie Hebblemen's until Sun. We all gathered at their house for a wonderful ham dinner that evening.

Thursday Dad, Elaine, Doug and Fran went to Alcadones, Mexico with us. Doug had broke a tooth that morning so he headed to the dentist. Dad and Mike got glasses and then Mike decided to go to the dentist and get his bridge. We had lunch and wandered around. Doug got his boots shined (they were scuffed pretty bad from the bike accident). The wait time getting back through the border was short! That evening we all went to Daybreakers for dinner to celebrate Dad's birthday. Friday Doug, Fran and us went back to Alcoadones so Doug & Mike could finish up their dental work. Fran & I had a manicure. We stopped at a little outdoor cafe and listened to 'Pepe' play and sing some great music. He played non stop for over an hour! The trip today thru customs was quick – no wait time!!! We went back to Doug & Frans for dinner.

Saturday Dixie worked on some jewelry for Christmas gifts! In the afternoon Dad & Elaine and Doug & Fran came over. Doug bought a motorcycle through Ebay and he will go to Austin, TX to pick it up. We did some travel planning for him. That evening we went back to John & Angie's for Ham & Beans – today was Dad's real birthday so we celebrated again.

Sunday Doug & Fran came over for home cooked chinese food!

Doug flew to Austin on Monday morning to pick up his new bike and will start his drive back to Yuma. I went to John's to cut his hair and highlight/cut Angie's. Then I headed over to Fran's to cut her hair.

Tuesday we made the 22 mile move to Pilot Knob RV park. We got our Christmas packages ready for mailing. Dixie made some more jewelry – this time for Denita to give for presents!

Wednesday I mailed packages and went to Fran's in the morning to work. We shopped in the afternoon – hit the Goodwill! Doug arrived with his bike around 630p.

Thursday we spent a good portion of the day cleaning and rearranging & washing. That evening we met Doug & Fran in old downtown for a drink and then went to Los Manjares DePepe for a mexican dinner. We have frequented this small restaurant in the past & new they had great food!. It was pooring rain by the time we left – we had a lake in front of the motorhome.

Friday we were to have our carpets cleaned at 8am....well they ended up not arriving until after 11am. They finished by 1230 and the carpets looked much better. We headed into Yuma and made a few stops and then went to Doug & Frans for another wonderful dinner.

Saturday Dixie worked on more jewelry christmas gifts. Doug & Fran moved their RV to storage at some friends house and they came over to do some laundry.

Sunday D & F flew back to Montana to spend Christmas and catch up on 'things'. We had a great lunch a Cracker Barrel and then visited some friends from our FMCA group (Dennis, Carol, Bill & Lois). They have a wonderful lot where they park their motorhome for the winter.

Monday was a lazy day....Dixie did a haircut and read her book while Mike cleaned on the outside of the motorhome. Tomorrow we leave for Desert Hot Springs~

A short stop in Indio!

Nov 29th – Dec 4th ….We drove through some fog, drizzle and wind on our 170 mile route from Simi Valley to Indio – Indian Waters RV resort. Doug and Fran stayed at Indian Well Carefree Resort on Jefferson/111.

On Friday we met Danny & Lexi at Doug & Fran's for dinner. Mike went with Ross in the am to the Q School golf round to watch Chad Collins play.

Saturday afternoon we met Bill & Gloria, Danny and Doug & Fran at the Beerhunter to visit and watch the Bobcat football game. At 7p we headed to Pioneer Town to Pappy and Harriet's for a late dinner. There was a band playing that was good but a bit too loud to allow for any visiting!

Sunday was another day on the go....today's outing was to Aunt Marge's in Riverside. Doug & Fran had never been to her condo. We had a very nice time visiting with Marge and Don and enyoed a lovely chili dinner. When we returned we found our friends from Edmonton – Glen & Henrietta parked next to us. We had to go over and say hi & visit for a bit.

Monday was wash day and grocery shopping. In between Dixie cut Henrietta's hair. That evening we all went to Bill & Gloria's for dinner and to see their new motorhome – a Winnebago Tour. It was very nice and roomy. Next stop on Tues., Dec 4th is Yuma!
